Two differing projects with other artists will fill the coming months for Jon Anderson, founding singer of Yes. First up is a tour with jazz-rock electric violinist Jean Luc Ponty from late April through May. On June 24, he releases an album made with Swedish prog-rock guitarist Roine Stolt titled Invention of Knowledge.
The AndersonPonty Band tour continues the union the two artists forged in 2014 that resulted in last year’s live DC/DVD Better Late Than Never. The collaboration has yielded new songs as well as rearrangements of classic Yes hits like “Owner Of A Lonely Heart,” “Roundabout” and “Wonderous Stories.” Anderson has also written lyrics for and added his vocals to some of Ponty’s signature instrumental compositions.
“A breakthrough feeling came as I sang with Jean Luc’s music, to be in a band again is very exciting on many levels, we will play and sing our way around the world and have fun,” says Anderson.
June 24th will see the release of Invention of Knowledge, which Anderson recorded with Stolt. Their collaboration came about after a Roine’s band Transatlantic and Anderson performed together on the Progressive Nation At Sea Cruise in 2014. The album the two have created over the last year-and-a-half was an effort to craft new music in the spirit of early epic works such as Tales From Topographic Oceans, and consists of four tracks ranging from 11 to 23 minutes in length.
