We’ve always said that one sure mark of a great song is that no matter the style it’s done in, it always works. In fact sometimes you find you love it even more than how it was originally performed.
Such is the case with the tune is this video: “Livin’ on a Prayer.” It’s beloved by millions as a 1986 hit that is Bon Jovi’s signature song. The American working class anthem reached #1 on February 14, 1987 and it was later voted #1 on VH1’s list, The 100 Greatest Songs of the ’80s. You’ve heard it countless times. More than three million folks own it. Oddly enough, its singer and co-writer, Jon Bon Jovi (who composed the song with Richie Sambora and Desmond Child) didn’t like his band’s original recording of it.
If he’s heard this take, he’s gotta dig it. Singer Miche Braden sings the hell outta it. Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox swings it like nobody’s business. Sometimes – more often than you might expect – classic rock tunes are simply stone cold classics, period. Our Classic Video…
