Gang of Four, the influential British post-punk band formed in Leeds in 1977, is releasing a new CD, Live… In the Moment, September 9 on Metropolis Records. The album was recorded at the band’s sold-out show at London’s Islington Assembly Hall last year. A companion live DVD features their sold-out concert at New York City’s Irving Plaza.
Gang of Four, whose current lineup features one original member, guitarist Andy Gill, along with John “Gaoler” Sterry on vocals, Thomas McNiece on bass and Jonny Finnigan on drums, will also launch an extensive U.S. tour September 29 in Minneapolis, stopping at most major American cities and ending on Halloween in Omaha.
The live album’s set list spans the band’s multi-decade career, from the early “Damaged Goods,” “To Hell With Poverty” and “I Found That Essence Rare” through “Where The Nightingale Sings,” from their latest album, What Happens Next. Here’s a preview…
