Former Saturday Night Live cast member Tracy Morgan will make his long-awaited return to the show that launched his career when he hosts the October 17th airing during the 41st season of the sketch comedy series.
There have been questions about Morgan’s ability to perform since he was severely injured in a highway accident last year that claimed the life of his friend and fellow comedian James McNair. Their limousine was struck by a Walmart delivery truck on the New Jersey Turnpike in the wee hours following a performance in Delaware.
Morgan – an SNL cast member for seven seasons – appeared on NBC’s The Today Show in June, and the effects of his head injuries were apparent to viewers.
Miley Cyrus will host the October 3rd season opener. Comedienne of the moment Amy Schumer will be the October 10th host.
No word yet on the early music guests although Cyrus is a likely candidate to pull double duty. In the meantime, enjoy a look back at last season’s 40th Anniversary special in which Alec Baldwin predicts Morgan’s return to the show.
