The Who resumed their Moving On! tour in San Francisco last night (October 9), exactly two weeks after they were forced to cut short their performance at Houston’s Toyota Center on September 25 when Roger Daltrey’s voice gave out eight songs into the show.
From all reports, the singer sounded remarkably well upon his return, even on such challenging songs as “Love, Reign O’er Me.”
[Following the abbreviated show in Houston, the band subsequently postponed the next two scheduled dates to allow the 75-year-old singer some time to recuperate from bronchitis.]
For this tour, now in its second leg, The Who are performing much of their show with an orchestra, starting with six songs from Tommy, now celebrating its 50th year.

At the Chase Center in San Francisco, they played a 22-song set–23, if you count the snippet of Scott McKenzie’s Summer of Love hit, “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair).”
During a break between songs, Townshend saluted John Entwistle, who would have turned 75 on this day.

The Who announced a new studio album on Sept. 13. It’s simply called WHO—in all-capital letters—and it arrives Dec. 6 via Interscope Records.
The band has been performing two of the new songs, “Hero Ground Zero” and “Ball and Chain,” on the current U.S. tour.
