Sony Music/Legacy Recordings will release the newly remastered second Adam & The Ants album, Kings Of The Wild Frontier, in a super deluxe box set edition, a two-CD deluxe edition and vinyl LP and digital formats containing a wealth of unreleased and exclusive content on Friday, June 3rd. Curated by Adam Ant, this new Legacy edition includes the original 12 track album, B sides, previously unreleased studio demos and rough cuts, a previously unissued live recording, and rarities all fully remastered from original tape by Adam Ant.
The super deluxe box set edition also includes a DVD of promo videos, live performances, the first DVD release of Adam & The Ants Live In Tokyo 1981 in its entirety, and a short promotional video, Ant Invasion – a mini documentary of the first Adam & The Ants U.S. tour in 1981. In addition, it boasts a 36-page, 12×12-inch full-color booklet that includes detailed liner notes and track annotations by Adam Ant, a gold vinyl LP, gold CDs, a replica original release Ant Catalogue, fan memorabilia, recreated artwork, poster, photos and much more.
Classic Pop calls Kings Of The Wild Frontier “Some of the most thrillingly strange pop music ever invented.” In his extensive liner notes Adam Ant tells us in his own words the story behind the record and the “band of brothers in musical arms, who came together in the studio in 1980 to create a bit of magic.” The album hit #1 on the U.K. charts and spawned three British hit singles. It caused a media and pop culture storm in the U.S., yielded three Top 20 Mainstream Rock Tracks – “Antmusic,” “Dog Eat Dog” and “Physical (You’re So)” – and was a major signal that new wave music had arrived in America as a commercial musical force.

Back when these guys were the hottest new thing, they had booked a show in San Francisco, where I used to live at the time. The local college station went completely off the deep end, counting down the hours ’til “Adam Ant Day”, ad infinitum and nauseum. Then the Big Day arrived, and the silence was deafening. It was as if they woke up, looked at what they’d been doing and came to their senses. They were barely ever mentioned again…
