Twenty years after its release, Almost Famous, the much-loved film about a young journalist for Rolling Stone who travels with a rock band, will be the subject of a new podcast series that features new conversations with its writer/director, the film’s stars, and numerous behind the scenes personnel. The production comes from Cadence13, a leading premium podcast company. Origins: Almost Famous Turns Twenty will premiere on July 8 for the millions of fans around the world who have loved the film since its 2000 release.
From the June 18 announcement: On Origins: Almost Famous Turns Twenty, host James Andrew Miller shares his revealing and intimate conversations with all of the film’s key players—writer/director Cameron Crowe, stars Kate Hudson, Frances McDormand, Billy Crudup, Zooey Deschanel, Jimmy Fallon, Patrick Fugit, Jason Lee, artists Peter Frampton and Nancy Wilson, casting director Gail Levin, rock photographer Neal Preston and Pennie Trumbull, the real-life inspiration for Hudson’s character, Penny Lane— as they explore the making of the Oscar film based on Crowe’s early life.
Its host, Miller, is an award-winning journalist and bestselling author. Origins regularly uncovers beginnings of success stories in the worlds of TV, movies, sports, music, and business as told by the insiders who were there from the start, bringing listeners all the unpredictable moments, pivotal junctures, and those sheer strokes of luck that turn great ideas into even greater realities.
Previous chapters of Origins have focused on Curb Your Enthusiasm, ESPN, and Saturday Night Live.
Origins: Almost Famous Turns Twenty features never before told stories from behind the cameras and explores the movie’s cultural impact; its music; what the Almost Famous experience means to the cast and creative team, and how it changed their lives. The film opened on Sept. 13, 2000, after its premiere.

Best film about R+R ever. A truly great movie. The vibe within it is perfection.
