Whether you’re doing planning a trip to the beach or the lake, taking in a ballgame, or hanging with friends, the 4th of July weekend is a great reason for cold beer, hot dogs and… the Beach Boys.
And to celebrate this year’s extra long holiday celebration, Best Classic Bands is giving one reader the group’s new 2-CD release 1967 Sunshine tomorrow which features the first-ever stereo mix of the Beach Boys’ 1967 Wild Honey album and a whopping 54 sought-after 1967 rarities, representing over two hours of unreleased live recordings, sessions and outtakes!
Previously unreleased highlights on the new collection include the Beach Boys’ shelved “live” album, Lei’d in Hawaii, studio recordings from the Wild Honey and Smiley Smile album sessions, and several standout concert recordings spanning 1967 to 1970.
Among the songs on 1967 Sunshine tomorrow are the Wild Honey singles “Darlin’,” a cover of the Stevie Wonder hit “I Was Made to Love Her” and the title track. The 2-CD set includes fascinating, previously unreleased studio versions of “Heroes and Villains” and “Cool Cool Water” plus live versions of the Beach Boys hits “Help Me, Rhonda,” “California Girls,” “Sloop John B,” “Surfer Girl” and “Good Vibrations,” all from the previously unreleased Lei’d in Hawaii album.
The 2-CD 1967 Sunshine tomorrow set is being released on June 30. The vinyl, stereo mix of Wild Honey are arrives July 21. Click here for complete track listings for both titles.
