Benmont Tench, the keyboard player and founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and their earlier incarnation, Mudcrutch, will do two rare solo performances this fall. The concerts will take place at the Iridium in New York City on November 8 and 9. (Tench performed at the same venue on November 10, 2016.)
Tench will likely be performing songs from his 2014 album You Should Be So Lucky and other material.
Tickets for both shows are available at this TicketWeb link.
You Should Be So Lucky was produced by the legendary Glyn Johns in Los Angeles and features Tench handling lead vocals, piano and organs, joined by a team of collaborators including a core band of Don Was, Ethan Johns, Blake Mills and Jeremy Stacey with contributions by Ryan Adams, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Petty and Ringo Starr.

Mudcrutch released their second album on March 25, 2016, eight years after their self-titled debut, and did a quick 21-date major market U.S. tour from May 23 – June 30. The band dates to the early 1970s; its members are Petty, fellow Heartbreaker lead guitarist Mike Campbell, Tench, Tom Leadon and Randall Marsh.
The team concept of the band allows each member to write and sing lead on at least one song and, at their concert in New York City last spring, following Tench’s turn on his “Welcome to Hell” from the recent album, the enthusiastic crowd shouted “Ben-mont, Ben-mont” to which an approving Petty added: “I do that in the shower.”
