Two legendary blue-eyed soul singers, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald, are re-teaming for 19 dates this summer. Each has his own extensive touring plans before and after but the two will pair up for dates in June and July. The two have previously toured together with Donald Fagen, calling themselves The Dukes of September.
Scaggs commences his 2017 tour on June 9 in Chattanooga, TN. Three dates in, he’ll be joined by McDonald on June 12 in Sugar Land (Houston), TX for the first of their co-billed performances. McDonald finishes his current tour on April 9. After a two-month break, he re-starts for a single date on June 10 in Lincoln, CA, before he joins Scaggs in Texas.
The on-again, off-again pairing ends on August 16 in Paso Robles, CA. Both artists’ itineraries are below. Tickets for many of the dates are available via the artists’ websites, at Ticketmaster and TicketNetwork.
Watch The Dukes of September perform a Scaggs favorite…
After gaining fame in the 1960s as a guitarist and one-time lead singer with the Steve Miller Band, Scaggs earned six solo Top 20 hit singles from 1976 – 1980, including “Lowdown” and “Lido Shuffle” from the critically acclaimed Silk Degrees.
After making a name for himself on tours and recordings with Steely Dan, McDonald joined the Doobie Brothers in 1975. It was meant to be temporary, filling in for the group’s Tom Johnston who was ill, but it transitioned to a full-time role where he sang lead vocals on such big hits as “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Minute by Minute” and “What a Fool Believes” (which he co-wrote with Kenny Loggins), among many others.
