In recent days, we’ve all made trips to our local supermarket to stock up on essentials: Bread, milk, paper towels, Purelle–yeah, good luck finding that–peanut butter, canned goods, soap, laundry detergent, and… toilet paper.

Turns out that the thought of being stuck inside for days on end, has given all of us that get-up-and-go feeling. We feel the need to stock up on rolls and rolls of TP!
If your sojourn has resulted in a bounty, you have our undying admiration. Some of us, though, see our closet stash dwindling down to the precious last roll or two.
As a public service, we present two longtime ad campaigns for Charmin.
The George Whipple character was featured in Charmin ads from 1964 to 1985. Also known as George the Grocer, the supermarket manager gently chastised customers and store associates. He was played by actor Dick Wilson in more than 500 spots!

The Mr. Whipple character was replaced by the Charmin Bears in 2000.
