The Dandy Warhols‘ forthcoming album and first LP since 2012, Distortland, arrives April 8th on Dine Alone Records. And now fans can enjoy a spin of their latest single, “Catcher In The Rye.” The band’s penchant for breezy hooks, harmonies and sparse arrangements are in full force, and the understated tune serves as a nice counterpart to another teaser track the band released in early March – the swaggering “STYGGO,” which stands for “Some Things You Gotta Get Over.”
The Dandy Warhols first formed in Portland in 1994, signed to Capitol Records and released their major label debut …The Dandy Warhols Come Down in 1997, and achieved mainstream success with the tune “Bohemian Like You” after it was featured in a Vodafone advertisement in 2001. Now 10 studio albums into a 22-year musical career, the alt-rockers have transitioned from a grittier garage rock sound to a more Britpop-esque power pop sound. They even got the official vote of approval from David Bowie when he personally selected them to play at London festival Meltdown in 2002.
The band kicks off their North American tour this Friday, April 1st at The Complex in Salt Lake City, and wraps up with a set at the Mercury Ballroom in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 19th. Additional dates are still to be confirmed.
