Dhani Harrison’s debut solo album, IN///PARALLEL, was released on Oct. 6 (via BMG) and he performed two songs from it on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (Oct. 9) as he gears up for his first-ever tour as a headliner. Dhani is the son of George and Olivia Harrison.
The album’s announcement notes: “[Dhani] Harrison is stepping out and making music for the first time under his own name. Echoing his influences over the past few years as a composer, Harrison’s new music paints a cinematic soundscape.”
The Grammy Award-winning musician has been busy since the release of his last album with his collective thenewno2. In the past several years, Harrison has scored a handful of feature films and TV series.
The younger Harrison’s physical and vocal resemblance to his father is striking. Many classic rock fans were first introduced to Dhani (produced “Danny”) when he shared the stage with Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and others at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for his father. Prince’s guitar solo stole the show.
Earlier this year, Harrison gave a humorous speech for the Electric Light Orchestra‘s Rock Hall Class of 2017 induction.
