Guitar star Warren Haynes has been in the business of throwing big holiday parties for the past 27 years, showcasing great musicians for a good cause, marathon-style. (The party’s been known to last ’til sunrise.)
This year’s Christmas Jam is already looking to be as impressive as ever, with a line-up of Haynes’ friends that will, as one would expect, feature much hot guitar: The Doobie Brothers, Dawes, Blackberry Smoke, Bruce Hornsby, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Joe Bonamassa, Electric Hot Tuna and, of course, Gov’t Mule founder and longtime Allman Brothers guitarist Haynes himself.
For the 17th year in a row, the Jam will benefit Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, helping to build new energy-efficient houses and develop land for Habitat subdivisions. In 2013, they handed over one of the largest ever contributions to the organization – a record-breaking half-million dollars.
Haynes first started the tradition at a small local club in Asheville in 1988, and the event has since expanded to the U.S. Cellular Center, a 7,654-seat arena, selling out in a matter of hours every year. This year’s extravaganza will take place on December 12th at 7 p.m.
Don’t miss out on the party. A pre-sale, which includes access to VIP tickets and travel packages, will take place on October 9th at 10 a.m. ET at XmasJam.com. Tickets will go on sale to the public October 23rd. Keep an eye on this page for additional artist announcements in the coming weeks.
