The Eagles announced last night (July 22) that they will be performing a third date as part of new series of classic rock concerts branded as The Classic. This new concert, scheduled for September 30 at Seattle’s Safeco Field, differs somewhat from the initial two which were first revealed last March 2.
Those initial events–The Classic West on July 15-16 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and The Classic East on July 29-30 at Citi Field in New York–feature six major artists on the bill. Besides the Eagles, the lineups are: Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers, Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire.
The newly announced The Classic Northwest will be a one-night affair with the Doobies opening for the Eagles. It’s a natural inclination to speculate that further Classic concerts will be scheduled and whether an Eagles reunion tour will be continue. Tickets go on sale August 5 at 10 a.m. PT here.
The Eagles’ July 15 concert was their first since the death of their co-founder Glenn Frey in January 2016. For their two July performances, they’ve augmented their lineup of co-founder Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh with Frey’s 24-year-old son, Deacon, as well as country superstar Vince Gill. At the Dodger Stadium show, their pal, Bob Seger made a surprise appearance, singing lead vocal on “Heartache Tonight,” a song he co-wrote with Henley, Frey and J.D. Souther.

The unexpected news of The Classic Northwest concert came on Henley’s 70th birthday, who celebrated his big day with a previously announced concert at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.
