Save for a special one-off, invitation-only gig set for Nashville’s storied Grand Ole Opry House tonight (Oct. 29), The Eagles have now completed their six-date mini-tour dubbed “An Evening With the Eagles.” The final show took place Friday night (Oct. 27) at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, where the reconstituted band—with Deacon Frey (son of the late Glenn, a Detroit native) and country star Vince Gill now firmly embedded into the lineup—wowed the local fans.
The 23-song set list at the Detroit show was identical to the others performed during the tour, which began Sept. 30 at Safeco Field in Seattle. Starting with “Seven Bridges Road,” the band—which also features surviving co-founder Don Henley plus Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit—ran through a slew of hits, including “Take it Easy,” “One of These Nights,” “Witchy Woman,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “New Kid in Town” and “Heartache Tonight,” with “Hotel California,” Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way” and “Desperado” as the encores. As they’ve been doing at the other shows since the debut of the new lineup, Deacon Frey and Gill took turns singing the songs sung by Glenn Frey until his passing in 2016.

The Eagles were Glenn Freys band. He put them together and they should have ended with his tragic passing. I don’t care if his kid is part of it, without Glenn it is a second rate tribute band. VInce Gill?!?
