Eddie Money was celebrated on Feb. 20, 2020, when his family and friends gathered to pay tribute to his career. Sammy Hagar, Rick Springfield, George Thorogood, John Waite and Mickey Thomas were among the featured classic rock performers at “Eddie Money Tribute Concert,” at The Saban in Beverly Hills, Calif.
AXS TV premiered it on March 22, 2020.
Also joining was Metallica’s James Hetfield, who has returned to the stage – and looked great – following a well-documented struggle with addiction. The house band included guitarist Waddy Wachtel.
The network released a tribute clip in advance of its premiere.
AXS TV’s Feb. 27 announcement noted, “The tribute also featured a collection of moving video tributes from world-class artists Huey Lewis, Joan Jett, Steve Miller, Loverboy, Boston, and Dennis DeYoung, as well as comedian Kevin James who fondly recalled Money’s performance at his wedding and shared rare footage from the special day. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak also took the stage, regaling the crowd with anecdotes from Money’s set at the historic US Festival in 1982.”

“AXS TV was a big part of our lives for the past two years while we shot ‘Real Money’ and we are so pleased to have them onboard as the exclusive home for Eddie’s memorable tribute event,” said Laurie Money, Eddie’s wife of 30-plus years. “We are so excited that others will now have the opportunity to witness the outpouring of love and support that Eddie and our family received from his music peers through this concert.”

Born Edward Mahoney in New York on March 21, 1949, Money dropped out of the New York Police Academy in the ’70s to pursue a career in music. His biggest-ever hit was a duet with Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes, “Take Me Home Tonight,” which reached #4 in 1986.

Can someone please tell me if this will televised or available to watch on cable TV? On AXS perhaps? It will be a great show for a great performer and all around great guy!! I met him several times and went to many of his concerts. He always gave his all. He will be missed & should be in the Rock Hall of Fame!
March 22 on AXS.
Eddie Money was always the first artist to start the summer concert season and play the Pine Knob Amphitheater, every year in Detroit, where every artist who was anybody played. It just won’t be the same to have to start the summer music season without Eddie. Eddie was proud to be that first artist to do so every year, it was a party. You knew summer had arrived when Eddie came to town, and burned down the place. RIP Eddie, Detroit will miss you, it just won’t be the same starting the summer without you, buddy.
