Goodbye Yellow Brick Road? During a recent appearance on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show, Sir Elton John mentioned that more time at home with his husband, David Furnish and their two young kids, Zachary and Elijah, was in the foreseeable future.
“If your feeling fresh and energetic, do it while you can. I’m not going to do it forever because I want to see my boys grow up.” John told Britain’s The Daily Mail. However no definitive date was given and Elton stated that he would not call his current performances as a farewell tour. “I like playing, and I’m a working musician and I love to do it.”
However the sun is not going down yet on his Las Vegas residency show The Million Dollar Piano. You can still catch the legend rocking the stage at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace with new performance dates recently announced for October 2016 and February 2017. John can be heard in collaboration on the upcoming Red Hot Chili Peppers album, slated for a June 17 release.
Since getting his start in the music business in the 1960s, John has released 32 studio albums, his last being Wonderful Crazy Night, which dropped in February of this year. In 2013, Billboard ranked him the most successful male solo artist on their Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists. The five-time Grammy and Grammy Legend award winner has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and has received both Academy and Tony Awards for his contributions in The Lion King and Aida. Touring and playing over 3000 shows over the past 50 years, John is revered as one of the most beloved performers of all-time.
