Just a few days after putting on two impressive concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden on March 19-20, Eric Clapton has postponed his two Los Angeles shows scheduled for this weekend. In a statement, Clapton cited “severe bronchitis and doctor’s advisement.”
Tickets for Saturday night’s (March 25) show at the Forum will now be honored on Wednesday, Sept. 13. The Sunday, March 26, Forum concert will now occur on Monday, Sept. 18. Clapton is already set for two previously announced shows on Sept. 15-16. As noted in our review of the NYC show, Clapton concerts are becoming increasingly rare.
Still scheduled are three dates at London’s Royal Albert Hall in May, two back at the Garden on September 7 and 8 at MSG and now four, September 13, 15, 16 and 18, at the Forum in Los Angeles.
Tickets for the U.S. shows are available via Ticketmaster and on the secondary market here.
All of Clapton’s 2017 dates will feature the band members Walt Richmond, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White and Michelle John. Guitarists Gary Clark, Jr. and Jimmie Vaughan are billed as special guests at the shows, each performing their own 30-minute sets and joining him for an encore.
Clapton has previously discussed retiring from live performing. His only 2016 dates were five concerts in April at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan.
