The world’s highest-paid entertainer is a 29-year-old female singer* who raked in a reported $185 million in the past year. At #2 is a 21-year-old* whose category is listed as a “Personality.” She earned a cool $170 mil. That’s according to the new rankings by Forbes for the past 12 months, and published July 10.
Classic rock stars were led by the Eagles at #8 with a reported $100 million. You’ll have to skip down to #19 to find the second; that would be Elton John, who is currently on his farewell tour. He’s pulled in a reported $84 million in the past year.
Other rockers in the Top 100, in order, are Metallica at #30 ($68.5 million), Billy Joel at #53 ($52mm), Fleetwood Mac at #59 ($49mm), Paul McCartney at #62 ($48mm), Guns N’ Roses at #71 ($44mm), the Rolling Stones at #83 ($41mm) and the Dave Matthews Band at #92 ($39mm).
The first athlete is at #4. That’s 32-year-old soccer superstar Lionel Messi at $127 million.
And if you thought movie stars were overpaid, you have to go all the way to #15 on the list to find Dwayne Johnson, who leads the pack with $89.4 million.
Other celebrities of note: Howard Stern at #12 ($93 million), author J.K Rowling at #13 ($92 million), LeBron James at #17 ($89 million), Gordon Ramsey at #35 ($63 million), Adam Sandler at #43 ($57 million) and Jennifer Lopez at #76 ($43 million).
Jimmy Buffett continues to pull serious coin; he’s at #57 with a reported $50 million earned.
*Oh yeah, that’s Taylor Swift at #1 and Kylie Jenner at #2.
