Here is our original item from when the tour was still in the rumor stage…
There’s been no official announcement, but a cryptic hashtag—#GnFnR 2017 … The Machine Is Back At It—accompanied by a 30-second teaser video, seems to be offering a hint that Guns N’ Roses may be gearing up for a full-blown North American tour next year. Halfway into the video the words “The Machine is Back at It in 2017” flash across the screen amidst quick-cut clips taken from the band’s 2016 Not in This Lifetime… Tour.
If a 2017 tour is confirmed, it will serve as solid evidence that the reunion of core band members Axl Rose, Slash and McKagan during the 2016 tour was not a one-off. That tour began with a surprise appearance at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on April 1, continued with gigs in Las Vegas, the Coachella festival and Mexico City that month, then continued in earnest beginning in June, with dates all over the United States throughout the summer, followed by fall shows in South America. GNR is currently scheduled to play Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates into early March. Neither the group’s website nor its Facebook page indicate any currently scheduled U.S. dates, but the launch of the teaser video, posted yesterday (Nov. 26), would seem to indicate some new activity on the horizon.

It has also been reported that a new billboard has appeared in Montreal, saying, “Welcome to the Jungle #GnFnR.”

The 2016 GNR tour has been wildly successful, reportedly raking in more than $100 million. Prior to this year’s outing, it had been more than two decades since guitarist Slash and bassist McKagan had played together with singer Rose. The current lineup is filled out by Dizzy Reed (keyboards, piano, backing vocals), Richard Fortus (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Frank Ferrer (drums, percussion) and Melissa Reese (keyboards, synthesizers, backing vocals). Drummer Steven Adler and rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, the other two core members from the band’s ’80s/’90s heyday, have no involvement with the current GNR.
