They began as a side project for Jefferson Airplane guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady. Now, Hot Tuna is continuing the celebration of their 50th anniversary with a series of U.S. shows that will find them playing mostly acoustic dates plus a pair of electric dates featuring drummer Justin Guip. Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams will open most of those shows.
Hot Tuna recently released Bear’s Sonic Journals: Before We Were Them, Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Casady, Veterans Memorial Building, June 28, 1969, on CD. The previously unreleased live recording features the duo with then-Airplane drummer Joey Covington, before they had officially adopted the name Hot Tuna.
