James Taylor has announced the rescheduled dates of his 2022 Canadian tour. He’ll be joined by special guest Jackson Browne, with whom he toured in 2021. Bonnie Raitt was the original choice for the Canadian dates when they were scheduled for 2020. But the pandemic caused the run to be delayed twice. Now, Raitt has a scheduling conflict and thus needed to bow out. See all of Taylor’s 2022 dates below.
Previously purchased tickets will be honored for all new concert dates and fans are encouraged to hold onto their tickets. Refunds are available for those that can’t attend the new dates.
After a year’s delay, the first leg of Taylor’s U.S. tour with Browne began July 29 and continued through August. It resumed on October 16. Taylor recently announced date changes for his 2022 European tour. (Tickets are available here.)
During Browne’s set, his host has been joining him on stage to perform “The Pretender.” When Taylor performs, Browne has returned to the stage to play “Take it Easy.”

Taylor had originally announced the postponement of the 2020 concerts on April 3, 2020, “due to the unprecedented circumstances surrounding Covid-19.” The tour, his first with Browne, was first scheduled to begin on May 15, 2020.
On March 24 of that year, Browne revealed that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. At the time, he was said to be quarantined and recuperating at his Los Angeles home. Browne’s new studio album was released on July 23, 2021.

In the April 3, 2020 announcement of the U.S. tour’s original postponement, Taylor wrote, “As this summer’s tour of 27 towns and cities across the U.S. drew near, we’ve been increasingly excited to hit the road again. So it’s deeply disappointing for both of us to have to call it off and reschedule (and reschedule we WILL)! As we all now realize, COVID-19 is a serious, real and present danger. Moreover, our public health is all of our responsibility. So let us listen to and follow the directions of our public healthcare people and support their efforts in this unprecedented time of global pandemic. Love those around you and, above all, stay safe and healthy.”
Taylor released an album of standards on Feb. 28, 2020. American Standard features covers of tunes written by such legendary songwriters as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Frank Loesser, and more. It went on to earn the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 2021.
When it debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album charts, Taylor became the first artist with top ten albums in each of the last six decades.

The streak began with 1970’s Sweet Baby James, which reached #3. (He went on to earn five additional Top 10 LPs in the decade.) In 1981, he just made it when Dad Loves His Work peaked at #11. 1997’s Hourglass reached #9. Both 2002’s October Road and 2008’s Covers made it to #4. In 2015, Taylor earned the first #1 album of his career with Before This World.
The 2020 collection features such chestnuts as “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” “Pennies From Heaven,” and “Ol’ Man River.”
