Last October, Ian Anderson presented U.S. audiences with Jethro Tull. Not the band Jethro Tull, which Anderson founded in the late ’60s, but rather the agriculturist after whom the band was named.
Written and performed by Anderson, the performance “celebrates the life and times of English agriculturalist Jethro Tull (1674-1741) with a narrative set in the near future,” according to a press release.
The presentation is playing markets around the world with performances in New Zealand during April and in the U.S beginning in May.
The U.S. dates include a special performance with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks Amphitheater, in Morrison, CO, on May 26.
As previously noted, there will be a new album from Anderson and England’s The Carducci String Quartet. Jethro Tull – The String Quartets will be available on March 31 via The End Records/BMG. Pre-order is available here.

The concerts feature some of the best-known Tull repertoire dating from 1968. Most are accompanied by big screen HD video elements to enhance the concert experience. Classic rock favorites include: “Dharma For One” in 1968, “Bourée,” “Nothing Is Easy,” “Living In The Past,” “Aqualung,” “Locomotive Breath,” “My God,” “Aqualung” and “Thick As A Brick.”
Further tours and concerts will be scheduled throughout Europe, the U.S. and South America later in the year.
Anderson is accompanied by Tull members David Goodier (bass), John O’Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums).
