Folk music legend Joan Baez resumes her extensive farewell tour, Fare Thee Well, on September 11. The tour, which has already weaved through Europe and the U.K., now begins a three-month North American leg. Originally planned to end in 2018, the tour has already been extended well into 2019. See below for complete tour details. Tickets are available for purchase here and here.
Baez’s 1960 self-titled debut is being reissued on vinyl and digitally via Craft Recordings on October 12. From the announcement, the album introduced the world “to the pure and soaring soprano of a then-19-year-old folk singer, who had recently come to prominence after the 1959 Newport Folk Festival.” Pre-order it here.

Baez’s first album in 10 years, Whistle Down The Wind, was released last spring on Bobolink/Razor & Tie Records (purchase links are below). The album debuted at #18 on Billboard’s Top Current Albums chart and #4 on the Americana/Folk Albums chart—Baez’s strongest chart position since 1975’s Diamonds & Rust. The album has also achieved considerable success internationally.

Listen to “Civil War” from the new album
Shortly after her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction last April, Baez announced that 2018 would be her last year of formal touring. “I’m looking forward to being on the road with a beautiful new album about which I am truly proud. I welcome the opportunity to share this new music as well as longtime favorites with my audiences around the world,” Baez stated in the press release.

The new music marks the first release from Baez since 2008’s Grammy-nominated album, Day After Tomorrow. Its release coincided with the 50th anniversary of her 1958 residency at the famed Club 47 in Cambridge, Mass., where she launched her career.
