Update (April 21): Dates for a “seventh and final leg” have just been announced for this Fall.
John Mellencamp is joining the ever-growing list of classic rock acts hitting the road this year, continuing the tour he started in 2015 to promote his latest studio album, Plain Spoken. Shows will not only feature music from his 22nd studio release but also a selection of hits from his 40-year career, like the Top 10 singles “Hurts So Good,” “Jack and Diane,” “R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.” and more. Joining him as she did on tour last year is Carlene Carter who performs solo – including songs from her recent Carter Girl album (Rounder) – and then joins the headliner for several numbers.
Tickets are available here.
Plain Spoken (2014) was the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s first project as part of a “lifetime” recording contract with Republic Records. The 10 songs on the record tackle a wide variety of subjects, from his recent divorce to spirituality, 21st century society and character sketches of troubled people. Last year’s 80-date tour to promote the release was one of the singer’s largest in years.
