Journey and Asia have announced 25 new dates on their joint tour of the United States, in addition to the shows that begin March 15 in Yakima, Washington. The summer tour launches with a June 5 show in Tulsa, Oklahoma and hits several parts of the country before winding up in El Paso, Texas, on July 15. Tickets are available here and here.
When the two bands announced the first leg of the tour, Asia’s John Wetton commented, “Asia is honored to be asked to share the stage with Journey.” But Wetton, who has also worked with UK, King Crimson, Uriah Heep and as a solo artist, recently announced that he is battling cancer and facing chemotherapy treatments, and said that due to those personal issues, current Yes member Billy Sherwood would take his place on the first Asia dates of 2017. Wetton added that he hoped to be back with the band later in the year, but there is no indication accompanying the announcement of the new dates as to whether Wetton will be on board for the summer shows.
Journey is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April.
