Larry Storch, the beloved actor best known for his role as the scheming Corporal Randolph Agarn in the short-lived TV sitcom, F Troop, and voiceover work as “Mr. Whoopee” on the animated series Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales, died today (July 8, 2022). The news of his death, at age 99, was posted on his official Facebook page, which noted that Storch died overnight in his sleep.
The full announcement reads: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you the news our beloved Larry passed away in his sleep overnight. We are shocked and at a loss for words at the moment. Please remember he loved each and every one of you and wouldn’t want you to cry over his passing. He is reunited with his wife Norma and his beloved F Troop cast and so many friends and family.”
Storch was born January 8, 1923, in New York City and attended high school in the Bronx with fellow future comedian and voiceover actor Don Adams. He soon enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II.
Supporting roles in a variety of TV sitcoms led to his being cast as Cpl. Agarn on F Troop. The comedy, set in the Wild West in the 1860s, depicted the relationships with U.S. soldiers and Native Americans, usually with slapstick humor, and often parodied the circumstances.
The series debuted in 1965 and ran for just two seasons, ending its run in 1967, though its 65 episodes have endured in both syndication and on cable. Its first season was filmed in black-and-white; seasons two was in color.

Always got a kick out of “Married With Children”‘s parody of the Larry Storch’s School of Acting, with Kelly Bundy as a student….
R.I. P., Corporal Randolph Agarn – you provided many a chuckle in my early youth.
