Oasis’ Liam Gallagher has slammed his brother, Noel, for not performing at Sunday’s (June 4) One Love Manchester benefit concert, at one point referring to Noel as “you sad fuck.”
On June 2, Best Classic Bands reported that two of Manchester, U.K.’s famous musical sons, Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, were rumored to be considering a one-time reunion at the June 4 One Love Manchester benefit concert. The two brothers split in 2009, not so amicably, after their relationship soured.
As we noted in our recap of the benefit concert, Liam Gallagher was, indeed, a surprise performer, electrifying the sold-out crowd at the Old Trafford cricket ground, with great versions of Oasis’ “Rock & Roll Star,” his new solo single, “Wall of Glass,” and then an emotional take of Oasis’ “Live Forever.”

Then came the tweets.
Several hours after his appearance, Liam Gallagher shared his feelings about the emotional night via his Twitter account…

An hour or so later, he tweeted his disappointment about his brother Noel’s non-appearance…

Less than 10 minutes later, Liam couldn’t hold back, adding…

As of June 5, Noel Gallagher hasn’t responded. His Twitter account indicates that it’s maintained by his label Sour Mash Records.
If you’re keeping score, Liam’s Twitter account has 1.79 million followers; Noel’s 975K. The Oasis account, which has avoided the fray, has 791K.
Gallagher had also performed at an earlier We Love Manchester benefit concert on May 30, playing several Oasis songs including “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” fueling speculation of an on-stage reunion with his brother.

Here’s a reminder of just how big Oasis was. The group released seven studio albums. Each hit #1 in the U.K. (as did a 2008 compilation album). They also scored eight #1 U.K. singles and a remarkable 23 Top 10 hits. Two songs were U.S. hits: 1995’s “Wonderwall” (#8) and 1996’s “Champagne Supernova” (#20). Both are from (What’s the Story) Morning Glory which has sold a reported 22 million copies worldwide. The group has sold over 77 million albums.
Sunday’s One Love Manchester was a resounding success with performances and collaborations by an A-List of current pop stars including Coldplay, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell, the Black Eyes Peas, and more.
