The first annual Love Rocks NYC—”A Change is Gonna Come,” a huge benefit concert “celebrating songs of peace, love and hope,” is planned for New York’s Beacon Theater on March 9. The diverse list of participating performers includes contemporary Grammy award winners, nominees and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees spanning rock, pop, blues and soul. The artists will include Joe Walsh, Mavis Staples, Jackson Browne, Cyndi Lauper, Warren Haynes, Michael McDonald, Gary Clark Jr., Aaron Neville, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Dr. John, CeCe Winans, Keb’ Mo’, Marc Cohn, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Sam Moore, William Bell, Lisa Fischer, Anthony Hamilton, Joan Osborne, Amy Helm, Catherine Russell, Jackie Greene, Marcus King, Tash Neal and more.
The house band will include musical director Will Lee (The CBS Orchestra), Paul Shaffer (The CBS Orchestra), Steve Gadd (James Taylor, Eric Clapton), Shawn Pelton (Saturday Night Live), Eric Krasno (Soulive, Phil Lesh & Friends), Larry Campbell (Levon Helm, Bob Dylan) and Jeff Young (Jackson Browne).
Tickets are on sale now for Chase cardholders here. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Jan. 28, at noon EST.
All proceeds will benefit God’s Love We Deliver, which will cook and home-deliver over 1.6 million nutritious meals this year to New Yorkers in need, and living with severe illness. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization in 1985, today God’s Love We Deliver serves people living with 200 different diagnoses. God’s Love is a non-sectarian organization.

The event is hosted by designer John Varvatos and real estate exec Greg Williamson. It is unknown at this time whether the event will be streamed live for a fee or recorded for later broadcast or home viewing.
