Rossington—consisting of Lynyrd Skynyrd founding member and guitarist Gary Rossington, along with his wife, Dale Krantz-Rossington—will release a new album, Take It on Faith, November 4 on Loud & Proud Records. The duo has been collaborating for over 35 years, beginning when Dale opened for Skynyrd in ’77 while singing with 38 Special. She was also part of the Rossington Collins Band in the ’80s and then and now part of the Lynyrd Skynyrd family.
Take It On Faith comprises 12 songs and features a studio band put together by the album’s producer and engineer, David Z (Prince, Etta James, Buddy Guy), including Ben Fowler, who provided additional mixing and production, and players such as the late Richie Hayward on drums, Jack Holder on guitar, Bruce McCabe on piano and keyboards and David Smith on bass. Guests include ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, who co-wrote “Good Side of Good,” Delbert McClinton blowing harp, guitarist Gary Nicholson and Bekka Bramlett, who has sung with Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Robert Plant and others. Pre-order is available here.
Gary Rossington—the only original Skynyrd member still with the band—co-founded the Rossington Collins Band in 1980 with guitarist Allen Collins, a fellow survivor the famous 1977 Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash that killed three members of the band. Rossington-Collins released two albums, then disbanded in 1982. Gary and Dale Rossington then formed the Rossington Band, which released two albums in 1986 and 1988.

For years, neither Gary nor Dale had any plans to cut another record together under the Rossington umbrella. Eventually, though, they decided to resume under their own name. “Fans kept asking us if we were ever going to do anything again,” Rossington said in a press release, “and we kept saying no but even the Skynyrd band would say, ‘Hey, go do something—the fans want to hear it.’ Finally, we thought, ‘Well, let’s just do it.’”
