Viewing and DVR alert! Neil Young will be a guest tonight (5/26) on CBS-TV’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and tomorrow (5/27) will talk at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art – both non-musical appearances to discuss his upcoming album EARTH, due out on June 24th. Tune into CBS at 11:35 PM EST / PST and at 10:35 PM CT to catch Young.
Friday’s event will feature an interview with Young by DJ Carmel Holt of WFUV-FM and he will introduce a preview playback of EARTH in its entirety in his Pono high definition fidelity audio. It will take place in MOMA’s Abbey Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture garden during “UNIQLO Free Friday Nights.” Admission is free from 4-8 PM (see below for further admission details).
EARTH features performances of songs from a range of Young’s albums, including last year’s The Monsanto Years, 1990’s Ragged Glory and 1970’s After the Gold Rush. The audio was captured during Young’s 2015 tour with The Promise of the Real, fronted by Lukas Nelson (vocals/guitar) and Micah Nelson (guitar, vocals) – Willie Nelson’s sons. The tour included Young performing solo and with the band for a full electric show.
A new take on some of Young’s most beloved songs, EARTH features the live recordings, along with added musical overdubs, as well as sounds of the earth, such as city sounds like car horns, sounds of insects, and animal sounds from bears, birds, crickets, bees, horses, cows, creating a very strange, yet beautiful atmosphere.

The line for UNIQLO Friday Night tickets begins at the Museum’s 54th Street entrance (between 5th and 6th Avenues). Tickets are issued on a first come, first-served basis. The Sculpture Garden will close when it reached maximum capacity. This is a listening playback experience and not a live performance.
