The Wilson sisters are back at it again. Best Classic Bands had previously written about Ann’s focus on shifting back to her first love, Heart. The “Barracuda” singer had revealed in an interview with ABC News Radio that a new Heart album could be finished as soon as June.
Well it looks like the wait is over. The new album is finished and set to release on July 8th via Concord Records. Beautiful Broken will be the group’s 16th studio album since they first formed in 1973.
And while any Heart album is usually made to marvel at, it seems that Nancy Wilson, who co-produced it, is excited and especially proud of her older sister Ann on this one.
Nancy had this to say in a recent interview, “The album sounds ironically like my favorite version of Heart before everything got so super digital. Me and the band guys played together simultaneously in the same room and could all see each other.
“Then there’s also the Ann thing… She has never been so strong and alive as a singer… This era of Ann and this album are my all-time best beloved. There are songs that rock the roof while her control is unflinching and never pushy, shrill or mean spirited. Ann’s deep spirit is there on the romantic songs of course, too. Possibly the toughest chore as a singer is to pull off the slower delivery of an aching love song.”
If the title of the album, Beautiful Broken, sounds familiar, it’s because it was also a title of a track on their rock-heavy album, Fanatic, which was released in 2012. The band also released a follow-up to that album, Fanatic Live from Caesar’s Colosseum in 2014 which peaked at No. 13 on Billboard‘s Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

Ann Wilson is regarded as one of the top power-rock voices in pop music history, said in the same breath as Linda Ronstadt, Journey’s Steve Perry or Queen’s Freddie Mercury. Her sister Nancy was always a stellar singer as well, with killer skills on the guitar. Collectively, Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide and made a name for themselves as one of the most commercially enduring hard rock bands in history. Their impact on music history has not gone unnoticed, with the band’s original members – the Wilson Sisters, Howard Leese, Michael Derosier, Steve Fossen and Roger Fisher – being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
And don’t forget! You can still catch Heart out on The Rock Hall Three For All tour now, which also features classic rock icons Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Cheap Trick. The tour will run until late September. Click here for tickets. If your date is sold-out, click here for our partners at Ticket Network.
