He toured his hometown of Liverpool over the weekend with The Late Late Show host James Corden, so it’s no surprise then, that Corden made official on June 13 what everyone already knew: Paul McCartney has taped an episode of Corden’s popular, recurring Carpool Karaoke series. Corden formally revealed that the program will air this Thursday, June 21, during the program’s four nights in London. Watch a portion of it below.
From the announcement: “The Beatles’ and Wings’ Paul McCartney is joining James Corden for the most-historic ‘Carpool Karaoke’ yet. We get to see the legendary musician’s hometown of Liverpool through his eyes. Plus, James and Paul will sing his hits, have an exclusive sing-along to brand new material, and surprise unsuspecting locals.”
On June 18, The Late Late Show released a clip from the upcoming “Carpool Karaoke” episode. No surprise what song they sing.

As Best Classic Bands reported last weekend, McCartney visited many Beatles-related sites in Liverpool, including his boyhood home. The visit culminated with a performance for a select few at the Philharmonic Pub on Hope Street. Amidst the set’s list of Beatles favorites like “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Love Me Do,” “I Wanna Be Your Man,” and “Lady Madonna,” Sir Paul premiered an upbeat, new song without revealing its title. (Watch it below.) The 12-song set closed with “Hey Jude.”

As for the new studio album, McCartney’s social media team has been busy with a daily teaser campaign. On June 9, his Facebook and Twitter pages had replaced his profile picture with an all-white image. Each day since, new images have appeared, revealing a recording studio and instruments.
In an interview with BBC Radio in March 2017, McCartney revealed that he’s been in the studio with American record producer Greg Kurstin, who has previously worked with such acts as Adele, Beck and Foo Fighters.
And last December, he answered a question on his website about his plans for 2018: “I’ll probably be putting out a new album. So, I’d like that to be something I really love and then hopefully the fans will love it too! We’re putting the finishing touches to it now and at the beginning of next year. So, I would like to achieve making that a really great album. Fingers crossed! That’s not what it’s called, but fingers crossed! [Pauses] It could be… it COULD be the new album title!”
