In 2017, one of classic rock’s most iconic singers, Paul Rodgers, celebrated the music of Free – the British blues rock band he co-founded in 1968 – with a U.K. tour. The May 28, 2017 performance, at a sold-out concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, was captured for a live CD/DVD set to be released by Quarto Valley Records on June 29.
On the 16-song collection, Free Spirit, Rodgers performs classic rock favorites like “All Right Now,” “Wishing Well,” “Fire and Water,” and many deep tracks, some of which were never performed live by the original band, such as “Love You So” and “Catch a Train.” (See the complete track listing below.)
Pre-order the CD/DVD; the Blu-ray or the LP. (The latter includes a bonus disc of opening performances by Jasmine Rodgers and Deborah Bonham.)
Rodgers was a teenager when he formed Free with Simon Kirke, Andy Fraser and Paul Kossoff in 1968. They ultimately disbanded in 1973 but not before they had earned four Top 10 U.K. albums and an enormous hit with 1970’s “All Right Now,” co-written by Rodgers and Fraser. (The song reached #2 in the U.K. and #4 on the U.S. Top 40.)
