Former Beatle and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame solo inductee Ringo Starr wants a present from the world on his July 7 birthday: peace and love. To spread the word, he will host a gathering of family, friends and fans at noon on that day outside the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood to share a “Peace & Love” salute. He also asks people worldwide to think or say peace and love or share #PeaceandLove at noon their local time on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (beginning at noon in New Zealand and traveling around the globe for 24 hours through noon in Hawaii).
Joining Ringo at the Hollywood event that is free and open to the public will be his wife Barbara, Joe Walsh, David Lynch, Edgar Winter, Matt Sorum, Jim Keltner, Richard Marx, Richard Page, Gregg Bissonette, Gary Wright, Ed Begley Jr. and others. Spirit Family Reunion and Adam Arcuragi will perform Ringo songs.
The annual birthday salute began in 2005 when Ringo was asked what he would like for his birthday, and his reply was “more Peace & Love.” Ever since, he has invited the public to join him wherever he is on his birthday and asks “everyone everywhere to think, say or do peace and love at noon their local time.” He also invites people to share #peaceandlove messages, photos and videos on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
What’s been a banner year for Starr continues when he publishes for wide release his book Photograph (issued last year as a limited edition) and hits the road again across North America with his All Starr Band in October.
