Last October’s Desert Trip, which featured six great rock acts, including the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and The Who, set the bar extremely high for current classic rock music festivals. And this summer’s The Classic Concerts East and West, headlining the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac among its six bands, also has fans excited.
But a recently announced event called Rock Getaway, taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico this fall, perhaps tops them both in terms of the breadth of top acts and certainly for the length of the event and the locale.
Describing itself as “the ultimate musical vacation destination for rock fans,” the event is offering four-, seven- and 11-day packages to see this tremendous includes: Don Henley, Santana, Steve Miller Band, Roger Daltrey & His Band, Bad Company, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Cheap Trick and George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
And if that’s not enough, the lineup also boasts: Don Felder, Blue Oyster Cult, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Foghat, Queensryche, Los Lobos, Warren Hill and Olivia Rox. And since the original announcement, more have been added: the Robert Cray Band and Dave Mason.
Four-day packages are from either October 26-29 or November 2-5. Guests choosing a seven-day package can opt for either October 26 – November 1 or October 30 – November 5.
The all-inclusive packages, notes the website, offers luxury hotel accommodations, admission to all events, food and beverages, and more.
The Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya is one hour from Cancun International Airport. The resort offers nine restaurants, multiple pools and a spa among its amenities.

We’re particularly intrigued to see Henley and Felder on the same bill, though we suspect that the two won’t be appearing during the same part of the festival.

How long does it take to get a refund from an event that was cancelled last year? We paid $6,712.00in April 2017 to go to the Hard Rock in Oct /Nov of 2017. We haven’t been able to get 1 red cent back!
We are in the same boat!! We are looking at legal action again…. so frustrating!
