In a seemingly left-field choice of places to perform since his last live performance of The Wall in Paris in September 2013, Roger Waters will play the Newport Folk Festival at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI on July 24. It is not know at press time what the configuration will be for the Pink Floyd founder’s set at the famed folk music event (where, 50 years ago, Bob Dylan signaled a major shift in his style by playing with an electric band). Tickets for that day of the festival were still available in late May.
The U.S. appearance comes a month after Sony/Legacy reissues his 1992 solo album Amused to Death on June 24, newly remixed and remastered with a new cover, in a number of formats: CD, Blu-ray, SACD, hi-res digital download and a two-disc vinyl set. He believes the album is “maybe even more relevant to our predicament as people in 2015 even than it was in 1992.” It included guests like Jeff Back, Don Henley, Rita Coolidge and others. He discusses the reissue in the video below.
