The Rolling Stones played the 2024 edition of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, better known as Jazz Fest, last night (May 2), just their second concert of their “Hackney Diamonds” tour, named for their 2023 studio album. The 18-song set offered a few changes to the tour’s kick-off on April 28 in Houston. Gone were “Rocks Off,” “Beast of Burden,” and “Mess It Up”; in their place were “Let It Bleed,” “Whole Wide World” and “Time Is on My Side.” The latter was noteworthy not just for reportedly being the first time the band played it since 1998, but for the guest appearance of Irma Thomas, known as the “Soul Queen of New Orleans.” Watch their performance below.
On “Let It Bleed,” they were joined by New Orleans Zydeco musician Dwayne Dopsie.

After the Stones’ set, Ronnie Wood returned the favor, joining Thomas and “her amazing band,” to perform the song at her set at midnight set at Preservation Hall.
