The announcement last May 9 came out of nowhere: The Rolling Stones would be visiting Europe in September and October in what they were calling their #NoFilter tour. And with summer winding down in the Northern Hemisphere, four months have passed and opening night was here. Tonight (Sept. 9), the Stones returned to the stage for the first time this year, performing in Hamburg, Germany’s Stadtpark.
While the 22-song set included many “required” classic rock favorites (“Honky Tonk Women,” “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Brown Sugar,” to name a few), the evening’s setlist included a few surprises. The Stones performed 1973’s Goats Head Soup lead track, “Dancing With Mr. D,” for the first time since the album’s release year. According to Setlist.fm, the evening’s performance of “Under My Thumb” was their first since 2006. (Watch it below.)
