In summer 2015, it seemed like screen stars Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer were popping up everywhere together. So perhaps it shouldn’t have been a surprise that they delighted attendees to a public performance of their BFF status at an August 27, 2015, Billy Joel concert at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
In a video that went viral, Joel asks the crowd if they’ve seen Schumer’s summer comedy box-office hit Trainwreck. The innocent man then starts singing his 1983 hit “Uptown Girl.” Shortly thereafter, Schumer, Lawrence and friends hit the stage and form a dance line. The two film stars shed their shoes and climb onto Joel’s piano to create their own field of dreams.
When there’s no pandemic, Joel typically performs once a month in various cities across the U.S., often at Major League Baseball parks, as well as at his record-setting monthly residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where he’s regularly joined by fellow classic rock legends. Tickets are available here.
The fun begins at around the 1:25 mark in our Classic Video….
