Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford continue to fill up their calendars, collectively as Squeeze, together as the At Odds Couple and on solo dates. The band, which enjoyed a string of hit singles in the U.K., thanks to Difford and Tilbrook’s razor-sharp songwriting, have resumed a regular tour schedule in recent years. Squeeze began recording a new album in March, which would be their first since 2015’s Cradle to the Grave.
Though U.S. radio programmers never fully embraced them, Squeeze developed a strong American fan base thanks to regular touring and such well-crafted songs as “Tempted,” “Another Nail in My Heart,” “Goodbye Girl” and “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell).” It’s a rare Squeeze song that audience members don’t sing along to every lyric.
Tilbrook will be visiting the U.S. this summer for a brief tour, with club dates in New York and New Jersey. Squeeze have a six-week U.K. tour this fall, with Nine Below Zero supporting.
As Tilbrook told Best Classic Bands in 2015, “People will always see – and that’s part of what this show is about – no matter who else is in Squeeze, it will always be me and Chris. I think they think of us as a single entity.”
