To bring further attention to their upcoming tour, The Who have launched a series of pop-up, double-decker Magic Buses in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Fans who spot one of the buses can enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win two premium tickets to the Who’s tour stop nearest them. (See the rules below.)
The buses, as any Who fan has figured out, are inspired by the band’s 1968 song with its lyrics that begin: Every day I get in the queue, to get on the bus that takes me to you.
The band confirmed on Jan. 14 the North American portion of what they’re calling their “Moving On” tour. They’ll share the stage with orchestras at what the announcement describes as “marquee venues,” including the Hollywood Bowl, Boston’s Fenway Park and New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The North American dates cover 29 cities and are split between this spring, running from May 7 to June 1, and a return that occurs from September 6 to October 23. See the full itinerary below.
The Who will also be releasing their first album of new songs in thirteen years later this year. On stage, the line-up will be rounded out by familiar Who players featuring guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Zak Starkey, and complemented by what the announcement describes as “some of the best orchestras in the U.S. and Canada.”
Every pair of tickets purchased online includes a redeemable code for a CD copy of The Who’s forthcoming album when it’s released. This offer is available to U.S. and Canada customers only and not valid for tickets purchased via resale. In addition, $1 from each ticket sold for the MOVING ON! TOUR will benefit Teen Cancer America.
To enter to win tickets, fans can post a picture of the bus on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #MagicBusEntry and follow + tag @LiveNation in the image. See rules for alternate method of entry. Sweepstakes ends Feb 10, 2019 at 11:59pm PST. Complete rules are here.
Fans in New York can find the Magic Bus route here; in Los Angeles, here; and in Chicago, here.

In between the North American legs, the group are expected to play several U.K. festivals over the summer.
Pete Townshend stated: ““The Who are touring again in 2019. Roger christened this tour Moving On! I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. Looking forward to seeing you all. Are you ready?”
Commented Roger Daltrey: “Be aware Who fans! Just because it’s The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”
