“I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better,” says Roger Daltrey after a bout with viral meningitis that caused The Who to postpone their second leg of their “The Who Hits 50!” this fall. The rescheduled dates on what is now technically “The Who Hit 52!” begin on February 27th in St. Louis and wrap up in Las Vegas on May 29th. In between they will hit such major markets as New York City, Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Tickets for the cancelled shows will be honored at the new dates, There are tickets still available for most of the dates; click here to purchase.
Reviews of the shows have been enthusiastic to ecstatic. As BCB Editor Rob Patterson wrote, “On the sixth date of the first leg of what I now pray will not be their last American tour, The Who raised the bar of rock’n’roll greatness to the most heavenly of heights. And proved that mature men playing matured songs of youthful rebellion, confusion and lust plus existential angst and spiritual yearning can span the group’s 50 years with all its due musical and creative fullness not just intact but thrillingly alive and kicking serious butt like no other band on the planet” (see full review here).
Or as Robert Wilonsky of the Dallas Morning News noted, “…if this is truly the end… it was one heck of an adios.”
To which Pete Townshend says: “We will be starting our rescheduled shows in March and will be coming back stronger than ever!” These will be not-to-be-missed performances by one of classic rock’s greatest bands.
