Just a month after the announcement of a new compilation of previously unreleased Tim Buckley music from the Light in the Attic label, Omnivore Records has announced the release of Buckley’s Wings: The Complete Singles 1966–1974. The new, single-disc anthology will hit the streets on November 18; pre-order here.
With material running chronologically from Buckley’s self-titled debut from 1966 through 1974’s Look at the Fool, the 21-track Wings compilation, including the A- and B-side of every Buckley single issued in the U.S. and U.K., traces his development as an artist and writer. Of special note is the unissued 1967 single “Once Upon a Time” b/w “Lady, Give Me Your Key,” with the latter making its first appearance anywhere. The original Buckley recordings were produced by such well-known record-makers of the era as Paul Rothchild, Jac Holzman, Bruce Botnick, Jerry Yester and Jerry Goldstein. All tracks are in stereo, except 1–9, which are in mono.
The booklet features photos and ephemera, as well as an extensive, new interview with Buckley’s longtime friend and collaborator, lyricist Larry Beckett, conducted specifically for this collection. The set was mastered by Michael Graves.
