It’s not too early to make your summer travel plans. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers have announced they’ll be headlining London’s popular BST Hyde Park with a performance on July 9. It’s reportedly just the band’s second U.K. visit in the past 18 years and will be TPATH’s only European performance of 2017. Joining Petty will be Stevie Nicks who recently announced that she has added a second leg of her popular North American tour (with Pretenders).
The classic rock titans collaborated on a 1981 #3 hit, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” and have performed together many times.
Last week, Petty announced the band’s 40th Anniversary tour with an initial batch of dates for the U.S. only, spanning from April 20 through July 27. There were notable gaps in the schedule, one of which is now occupied by the performance in London’s Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time series.

Other acts headlining Hyde Park this summer are Phil Collins on June 30, Green Day on July 1, Kings of Leon on July 6 and Justin Bieber on July 2.
For this July 9 concert, Americana band The Lumineers are also on the bill. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday, December 16 at 9 a.m. local time here.
The Heartbreakers’ last U.K. visit in 2012 included a headlining appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival and two shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Nicks preceded them as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998. Petty is being honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year at a gala event on February 10, 2017 two nights before the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.
