When Tom Petty revealed plans for a 40th Anniversary tour of the Heartbreakers last December 9, TPATH fans reveled in the news. That the opening act for many of the dates was none other than Joe Walsh… well, let’s put it this way: two bona fide classic rock stars touring together is a very good thing.
Walsh shared a behind-the-scenes clip. (Watch it below.)
Still, there were several key markets missing from the itinerary. Today (June 5), Petty added three Northern California dates for August (though without Walsh, whose opening slot with TP ends on June 16 so that he can rehearse with the Eagles for their two Classic dates).
Pre-sale begins June 7. More to come, including international dates? See the updated schedule below.
We reported from opening night at Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City on April 20 that Petty and Co. kicked things off with a 21-song set that included both greatest hits as well as deep catalog tracks from the band’s albums and Petty’s solo releases. In subsequent dates, the headliners’ set has been trimmed to 19 songs, with several songs being subbed-in (see below).

For his part, Walsh delivered a compact eight-song mini-set on opening night that featured “Take It to the Limit,” which he performed as a tribute to his late bandmate Glenn Frey, as well as “Funk #49” from his James Gang days and solo favorites like “Rocky Mountain Way” and “Life’s Been Good.” Since then, he’s been playing 10 songs (see below).
Walsh shared a behind-the-scenes clip from the April 27 performance from Philips Arena in Atlanta…
