As we noted in our obituary, Valerie Carter who sang on recordings and in concert with dozens of classic rock greats, died on March 4, at just 64. Many of the performers with whom she collaborated with have expressed their admiration for her talent and sorrow for her passing.
The list of recording artists who Carter worked with includes Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Ringo Starr, Lowell George and Little Feat, Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Randy Newman.
James Taylor, who Carter was most often associated with, notes on Twitter: “You’d hear it said time and again: ‘how can such a big sound come from such a delicate, diminutive creature?’ Her voice came from her life and her life was a steep, rocky road. We were the lucky ones, who worked (played) with Valerie Carter over the long arc of her creative career.”
