With the new Global Record Release Day becoming Friday this summer, the traditional U.S. release day of Tuesday will remain special to dedicated retail music shoppers. It will become Vinyl Tuesday at indie record stores that also participate in Record Store Day.
The folks who coordinate Record Store Day wish to stress that it is not a move to having a weekly Record Store Day. However, labels will likely issue some special edition releases for Vinyl Tuesday. They will also be advance releasing some titles on Tuesday prior to their global Friday release as well as following Friday releases with vinyl arriving on Tuesday. The move is intended to further promote the rapidly resurgent vinyl format.
