We’ve all sung “Bohemian Rhapsody” by ourselves but Shelbi Cornelison has taken it one step further. The college student used her TikTok account, @notlikethecar, to post several cleverly choreographed videos of her lip syncing to various songs. By using a folding mirror, and deftly adjusting it at the appropriate times, she’s able to convey harmonies, such as those in Queen’s 1975 hit single.
The Marymount Manhattan College student’s prowess came to our attention via a Dec. 19, 2019, story in the U.K. tabloid, The Mirror (how ironic), which quotes her as saying, “The harmonies and constant vocal shifts [of the Queen song] were perfect for this.
“The entire thing is taken in one take – no editing – so if I messed up early on, I’d just stop and start over.”
Cornelison had originally uploaded it to TikTok in September 2019.

Queen’s classic song was originally released on Oct. 31, 1975, three weeks before the album, A Night at the Opera. By the end of the year it topped the U.K. chart for a nine-week run. In the U.S. it only reached #9.
